Missouri River Railroad. After finishing school Jennie was employed as a schoolteacher in Webster County.

She met Thomas E. Penman in 1892 and they were married on September 12, 1893. They took up residence in
Red Cloud and on October 04, 1895 a daughter, Lea was born. They remained in Red Cloud until 1905, where

where there was more money. Lea attended high school in Denver.
