The friends, relatives and acquaintances of Edward and Sadie Engel, from Wyanet, Bureau County, Illinois
Elizabeth Rebecca Leonard was born August 29, 1825 in Franklin, New London, Connecticut to Henry and Phoebe
Arora (Dow) Leonard. Henry and Phoebe were married March 18, 1824 in Lisbon, New London, Connecticut.
Phebe then married
John Lendrum. Of that marriage three children were born, Mary, Martha J, and Phoebe M.
Elizabeth married Simon Sales Aldrich Jr, on October 31, 1852 in Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island. Their
marriage produced two children, Percy Leonard, born June 26,1854 in Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island and
Anna S., born February 18, 1858 in Wyanet, Bureau, Illinois.

Simon and Elizabeth arrived in
Centre, Bureau, Illinois in 1855, along with Simon’s brother Sullivan Aldrich and
family. After Simon Sayles Aldrich’s death on
August 12, 1857 in Centre, Elizabeth and her two children moved
in with
Simon's brother, Sullivan. Around 1868 she moved into a farm owned by Jonathan P Shade and was
keeping house at that location until 1875 when Elizabeth and Percy became the proprietors of the
Ellsworth
House
which was across the street from the Chicago Burlington & Quincy depot in Wyanet.
In
1880 Elizabeth was living with her son Percy and family on a farm just outside of Wyanet.

Her daughter, Anna S. Aldrich died
March 29, 1879 in Wyanet, Bureau County, Illinois.
Her stepfather, John Lendrum died in
1883 at Wyanet, Illinois
Her mother, Phoebe Arora (Dow) Lendrum died November 10, 1892
Elizabeth Rebecca (Leonard) Aldrich died
April 15, 1902 in Wyanet, Illinois.

Percy Leonard, born June 26,1854 in Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island to Henry and Phoebe Arora (Dow)
Leonard. He arrived with his family to Centre, Bureau, County, Illinois in 1855.
